Joanna approached me with a clear vision: to create a teaser and trailer for her upcoming cabaret, Brief Tales – A Memoir in Undergarments, which she was planning to perform at the Edinburgh Festival the following year.

Her writing is raw, thought-provoking, and unapologetically honest, much like her on-stage persona, a fearless artist who bares it all, quite literally... in all kinds of undies. In our pre-production meeting, she told me, “I don’t care anymore, so I’ve decided I’m just going to go to Edinburgh to perform it,” I couldn’t help but laugh and think “One day, that’ll be me too!'“

Joanna is no stranger to developing beautiful works, with her musical film Goddess currently streaming on Netflix—a huge milestone goal of mine too.

After reading through her hour-long script, I knew I could create something that would capture the essence of the show. Something witty, collaborative, and inviting!
